I’m almost exclusively a YA Contemporary writer. My WIPs are summarised under the tabs (though probably not up-to-date).
I’ll read pretty much anything that doesn’t include vampires or zombies. My favourite authors include Ursula Le Guin, Jessica Day George, Eva Ibbotsen, Frances Hardinge, Carole Lloyd and Geraldine McCaughrean. I’m a fanatic for twentieth century ‘school stories’–Elinor Brent Dyer is my hero, closely followed by Enid Blyton, Angela Brazil and Josephine Elder. I write most productively when reading classics–all the Austens, Vanity Fair, Gone With the Wind, Green Dolphin Country and The Woman in White are my to-die-for favourites.
And if you take recommendations, well, ‘The Book of Lies’ by Mary Horlock is all I have to say.
